Moodle is a powerful tool. The question is: is it right for you?
An honest comparison, criterion by criterion; from features and user experience to the real three-year cost. At the end, we show how to migrate without starting over.
Which one fits you better?
If you don't have time for the whole page, these three cards are enough.

This comparison is based on standard Moodle 4 without third-party plugins. With plugins and custom development many capabilities can be added to Moodle, with their own cost and maintenance.
The differences in detail
Open each section to see exactly where the difference lies.
Setup and maintenance
Moodle is open-source: the licence is free, but someone has to install it, maintain the server, keep plugins compatible and test every new version.
We launch your dedicated instance, and maintenance, backups and updates are on us. Your team focuses on learning.
You have full control, and full responsibility. Usually a part- or full-time technician, or a managed hosting company, is needed.
User experience
The most common learner complaint about learning platforms is complexity; especially on mobile.
Designed mobile-first, installs on the phone, has SMS login, and local calendars and RTL are part of the core.
Moodle 4 has improved a lot and has an official mobile app, but menus and settings are still heavy for non-technical users.
Interactive video and measuring learning
This is the biggest difference. Moodle can build interactive video with H5P, and it's a good tool.
Interactions are part of the platform: answers are checked server-side, real viewing is tracked, seeking is locked, and every video has a drop-off curve and heatmap.
H5P runs in the browser, so a technical user can see answers. Reports are limited to scores; there's no viewing behaviour analysis.
Exams and assessment
Both platforms are strong at exams. Moodle has one of the most complete quiz engines available.
Question bank with Excel import, automatic difficulty from real answers, and ready QR certificates.
Many more question types and very fine-grained settings; at the cost of more complexity for instructors.
Selling courses
For institutes, online course sales are essential.
Payment gateway, wallet, invoices and automatic cancellation and refund policies built in.
Via payment plugins; wallets and refund rules usually need custom development.
Standards and plugins
This is Moodle's strength, and we should be honest about it.
Yadino currently does not support SCORM or LTI and has no plugin marketplace. Special needs are handled by our team's custom development.
Full support for SCORM, LTI and thousands of plugins. If you depend on these, Moodle is probably the better choice.

Defaults are common market estimates. Replace them with your organisation's real numbers.
Where Moodle is genuinely better
We don't want customers who regret their choice six months later. If any of these is critical for you, take Moodle seriously.
- You depend on SCORM or LTI for purchased content
- You need a specific Moodle plugin with no equivalent
- You have developers and want to change the code yourselves
- You only need basic features and have a maintenance team ready
No starting over, no downtime

Common migration questions
How long does migration take?
It depends on data volume and plugins; for a typical Moodle, usually a few weeks including the pilot and reconciliation. The exact timeline comes from the free assessment.
Will our Moodle stop working during migration?
No. The plugin only exports and makes no changes to Moodle's data or behaviour.
Are user passwords migrated?
Users log in with their mobile number and an SMS code, so passwords don't need to be migrated or reset.
How much does migration cost?
The migration assessment is free. The migration fee is quoted after the assessment, based on data volume and plugins.
What if we change our minds halfway?
Your Moodle stays untouched and you can keep using it.
Shall we assess your Moodle for migration?
Free and without commitment; we deliver the full plan within a few business days.
